In-Office Teeth Whitening

In-Office teeth whitening is a quick and easy procedure that allows you to have a bright white smile in a short appointment. The procedure is completed in the office by a dental professional. During your appointment a high powered whitening gel will be placed over your teeth and then about an hour later you will walk out with a bright and fresh smile.

With the abundance of teeth bleaching materials on the market it is hard to determine which type is best for you. Many of the whitening options that are available today can provide similar results, the difference lies in how long it takes to provide those results. In-office whitening has the highest concentration of bleaching material allowing you to get increased results in a shorter amount of time. However, it is always recommended that before you whiten your teeth, whether it be in a dental office or using a prescribed or over-the-counter bleaching material, you should always consult your dentist beforehand.

What you need to know before you whiten your teeth:

  1. See your dentist to check for cavities, periodontal disease or sensitivity.
  2. If you have porcelain crowns or white fillings they will not bleach. If you are planning on bleaching your teeth, expect a shade difference between your natural teeth and your existing fillings.
  3. After whitening you should avoid drinking dark liquids and smoking for a few days.
  4. Any bleaching product used can cause temporary sensitivity to cold. We recommend using a toothpaste for sensitive teeth beginning one week prior to bleaching to help with any sensitivity.
